Clutter Free Gift Ideas for the Holidays

Clutter Free Gift Ideas

As we enter the holiday gift-buying season, I want to bring up the idea of clutter-free gifts. I love gifts. I think they are tremendous fun. I love buying them, I love wrapping them, and I love receiving them. However, ever since bringing Feng Shui into my life, it has made me very aware of the clutter that a lot of them can cause. Going the clutter-free route is just an option to think about.

Here are a few clutter-free gift ideas:

Gift Certificates:

This is pretty obvious, but it does let the person buy something that they are excited about, and maybe they wouldn’t have bought for themselves, or just haven’t for a variety of reasons. There are so many options, but here are just a few:

  • Their favorite store
  • Amazon
  • Their favorite restaurant
  • Spa treatments: Massage, facial, manicure, or pedicure

Memberships:

  • Amazon Prime
  • Local museums
  • Gyms or clubs
  • Online membership groups

Subscriptions:

  • TV is so different these days and there are soooo many streaming services and many people are getting tired of paying for all of them.  Think about gifting a subscription to services like Netflix, AppleTV, Max, or Hulu.
  • Masterclass is fantastic (http://masterclass.com). Someone gifted me a subscription to this a couple of years ago and I highly recommend it. If you are not familiar with this platform, they have taken all sorts of interesting people at the top of their fields and have created Masterclasses on a variety of topics.  They have people such as Thomas Keller on cooking, Sara Blakely on Entrepreneurship, Malcom Gladwell on Writing, Kelly Wearstler on Interior Design, and countless others: Richard Branson, Diane Von Furstenberg, Ron Howard, Steve Martin, Shonda Rhimes, and they just keep adding.
  • Gaia. (https://www.gaia.com). If you know someone who is more spiritually inclined, this streaming service is amazing. It’s like spiritual Netflix.
  • Audible or Kindle
  • Food, Coffee, Tea or Wine-of-the-Month subscriptions

Experiences or Events:

  • Tickets to a theater show
  • An Exhibit
  • One of those Art Immersive Experiences (they look so cool)
  • A Concert
  • A Stand-up Comedy Show
  • Movie Theater Passes

Services:

  • How about a few months of car washes? (or gas for that matter!)
  • Housecleaning
  • Food delivery service

Classes:

  • In-person or online
  • a workshop
  • a seminar/webinar

Other Ideas:

  • A contribution to their favorite charity
  • Gifts that will be used or consumed, like candles, food or wine
  • Presence, not presents.  How about giving your time to someone? Maybe they need help on a project or are involved with something that needs volunteers.
  • A Feng Shui consultation (just sayin’)

These are just some ideas. There are so many, but hopefully these will give you something to think about.
